Carole Baggerly has been free of breast cancer for 10 years and attributes her good health to maintaining optimum levels of vitamin D. Upon learning that her breast cancer could have entirely been prevented through optimal levels of vitamin D, Carole founded GrassrootsHealth, a California-based public health research organization dedicated to moving public health messages regarding vitamin D from science into practice. It has a panel of 40+ senior vitamin D researchers from Canada, the U.S. and around the world contributing to its operations. She is also a scientific advisor to the Vitamin D Society, a Canadian-based non-profit group that supports vitamin D research, education and helps increase awareness of the many health conditions strongly linked to vitamin D deficiency.
Recent research by GrassrootsHealth indicates the vast majority of women in Canada and the U.S. are deficient in vitamin D which possibly could be an indicator of sunlight deficiency and that maintaining optimum levels of the vitamin D could prevent approximately 50-80% of breast cancer cases annually.
Carole has authored recent public health papers on sunlight and vitamin D and is not afraid to speak out on the benefits of sunshine.
